[ARCHIVED] Swamp Rabbit Trail Eco-Counter Installed!

In partnership with Bike Walk Greenville and Prisma Health, the City of Greenville Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department is proud to announce the installation of the first ever trail counter along the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Joining us for the celebration of the official first count was City Councilmember and Mayor Pro-Tem Lillian Brock Flemming, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Consumerism at Prisma Health, Deborah Fullerton, and Executive Director of Bike Walk Greenville, Frank Mansbach.

Located at the intersection of Willard Street and the Swamp Rabbit Trail, the Eco-Display Classic is a powerful, highly-visible tool used to communicate bike and pedestrian counts to the public in real-time. Pedestrian counting occurs by the detection of people as they walk by a PYRO passive infrared sensor mounted on the side of the trail. Cyclist counting occurs when cyclists cross over a ZELT inductive loop sensor embedded into the path. This new addition to the trail provides quantitative insight into the daily and yearly use of the Swamp Rabbit Trail, along with comprehensive data on the economic and community impacts the trail provides to Greenville.
