Juanita Butler Center Mural

Residents from the Greater Sullivan, Haynie-Sirrine, Green Avenue and West End neighborhoods recently participated in a community mural painting day at the Juanita Butler Community Center. The paint by numbers-style mural was created with the guidance of the Blank Canvas Mural Company.

The mural incorporates images that reflect the rich history and vibrant future of the neighborhoods, including Sterling High School, AJ Whittenberg Elementary School and Juanita and Horace Butler, Senior, who originally paved the way for the community center. The mural also features the African proverb, "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."

Funding for the mural project was provided by the Grant Assistance Partnership, a joint initiative of the City of Greenville, United Way of Greenville County and Greenville County Redevelopment Authority, and Arts in Public Places.
